I am observing how the bodies defences weaken when we are in shock and grief. I have just experienced the death of a beloved cat. Moving house, changing jobs and the big one..climate change all take their toll on our systemic health. We should be quiet, stay still .... and then here is a gentle movement system based on Oriental Medicine to support and nurture the step back into life. https://youtu.be/WYhlxlIvZLw
Everyday for the past 30 days I have practiced a daily list making activity. One list is of things to be grateful for, the other of what went well today. I am not the first to do this simple practice nor the first to notice the remarkable resilience this affords me in times of trouble. www.qigongcoach.net
Qigong has an effect on the electrical activity of the brain and there is well documented evidence around this. Specifically 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) increases (2 to 3 times in regular practitioners) in the Central Nervous System. Simply put this chemical intervention increases Serotonin. The implications are greater immunity, less need for food intake and better sleep. 5-HTP is imbalanced in Bi-polar and Schizophrenic patients. It is also implicated in Parkinson's disease where the production of dopamine is imbalanced - Qigong is increasingly becoming the exercise of choice for such patients. Lin Yagu.
